Contact Rain Tree to book a day walk.We need at least one days notice to prepare. Most walks are full day events - start early. Meet at the cafe and Emilio your English speaking guide and a native of this part of Guadalcanal will pick you up from there.

The small cave

This is a shorter walk to an interesting cave. Walk takes you through secondary forest and some remnant primary forest before arriving at a cave where head hunters rested in the past. Walk takes about 3-4 hours. Moderate fitness required.

Virgin Rainforest and Honiara watersource walk...

Meet with Emilio at Rain Tree, short local bus ride to Kakabona village, meet with local guides in beautiful village setting next to a custom house,
Start walk from village through cocoa plantation along creek to grasslands,
Follow world war two tracks through hilly grasslands with excellent 180' views over Honiara and surrounding Islands. Enter jungle and be amazed by the many butterflies, and birds the deeper you walk the better it gets,
Experience old growth jungle with massive strangler figs, huge buttressed trees,
Local guide Emilio will explain traditional uses of the plants in the jungle as you move through it, from medicinal to food plants as well as explaining the various building materials that are found in the jungle for example the palm used for spears and bow & arrow construction. Visit the entrance to Limestone caves with bat colonies inside, walk along the edge of fast flowing creeks.
Bring a camera and wear closed sandals,
This is a full day walk and requires a high level of fitness.
